I've been training in Ballroom and Latin Dancing on and off for a decade now. More off than on- except when I was in cities like Mumbai, London and Chicago with active dance circuits. Working in Delhi and Bangalore often led to long stretches of Ballroom Blankouts.

Starting at the age of 16, I trained for 4 years in Mumbai through weekly classes with Farida Rangoonwalla and focused on more social dancing under the ISTD Syllabus. As the only advanced student, I had the privileged of having my dance teacher as my partner at various clubs, gymkhanas and exhibition events.

While at SOAS in London, I appeared in and earned a high Distinction for 10 Dances at the Bronze Level for the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance

 

In mid 2017, I decided I was done overdosing on Dancing with the Stars Youtube videos and took classes with Rajeshwari and Shannon from the VR Dance Academy in Mumbai en route to Nairobi.

And on Rajeshwari's suggestion, I teamed up with her student in January 2018 to compete at the All India competition. We reached the finals in the Cha Cha and scored a silver medal in the Samba. Read more about it  here: Dancing with the Fars.

I am now focusing more on technicalities and competition at the University of Chicago. I've still got one item on the bucket list- competing in the open category
